Historic Kerikeri Houses

Bay of Islands waterfront holiday house is offered on the Kerikeri Inlet. This is an historic place where the first Missionaries came from New South Wales to settle in 1820.

On the waterfront you can see the oldest house in New Zealand built by the missionaries in 1822 and next to it the Kerikeri Stone Store built in 1836 as a warehouse and a shop.

Waitangi Treaty House

A half hour drive to Waitangi Treaty House is another historic place in the Bay of Islands where the Maori signed a treaty with the British in 1840 and the first Governor resided.

Across the water is Russell which was a sea port for Whalers and the waterfront retains today much of its historic and tranquil beauty.

Waterfront Accommodation Bay of Islands

In Kerikeri 3 hours north of Auckland we offer both bed and breakfast or weekly self contained holiday house in the Carriage House. You look out over the Kerikeri Inlet.

Waterfront Jetty

At the end of the garden you can walk to our private jetty on the river. Moored yachts in the river give good reflections in the morning.

If you wish you may bring your own boat to explore the Bay of Islands, you may keep it on the deepwater jetty overnight. Your hosts are also sailors.

Bring your Boat or Kayak

If you bring your own Kayaks you can launch them from our pontoon and explore the inlet. There is also a launching ramp for trailer boats in Kerikeri.

Our private jetty at the end of the garden is an ideal place to moor your boat overnight whilst you enjoy the comfort of the waterfront holiday cottage before some more days exploring the bays and beaches of the Bay of Islands. This is deep water frontage and sufficiently sheltered in all wind directions.

Steam Boat Rides

A 30 foot steam pinnace operates on the Kerikeri Inlet in Summer. You can not only watch it pass our jetty, but we can arrange for Alan to take you for a 1 hour cruise down the Kerikeri Inlet to the historic sites. There is a good restaurant at “The Landing”.

The Carriage House

Our cottage is called the Carriage House. You have sole occupancy for either 2 or 4 persons.

It is self contained with modern kitchen and all you need for either a very comfortable weeks holiday or B&B. There are two ensuite bedrooms and a spacious living room.

Whilst you are quiet and private, your hosts homestead is on the site, and they can help with advice on the many Bay of Islands things to do. They provide a breakfast basket if required.
